LANE, Lebanese Advocacy Network for Environment, is implemented by MSI under the Civic Engagement Initiative – CEI component of Building Alliances for Local Advancement, Development and Investment Capacity Building – BALADI CAP Project through a sub award issued by Counterpart International, Inc. as a part of the USAID-funded BALADI Program.
The CEI concentrates on broadening the democratic space for citizen participation in public affairs, creating platforms for informed public debate and the competition of ideas in the areas of environment, human rights, good governance and accountability.
T.E.R.R.E. LIBAN, as an ISO on the Environment and Solid Waste Management Issue Network, in collaboration with Lebanon Eco Movement (LEM), and the University of Balamand (UoB), is implementing the project that basically consists of capacity building activities to the concerned civil society organizations.
Through this Grant Agreement, the Grantee, T.E.R.R.E. LIBAN, will act as an Intermediate Support Organization (ISO) coordinating, supporting and promoting “issue networks” of CSOs, around the following advocacy area: Environmental Protection and Solid Waste Management. The CSOs under this cohort are: AUB – Nature Conservation Center (NCC), Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI), Lebanese Association for Rural Development (LRD) and Al-Shouf Cedar Society (ACS).
- Enforce national and international laws related to environmental protection and Solid Waste management.
- Push local authorities to reduce waste generation and increase household sorting to improve Solid Waste management practices.
- Consolidate stakeholders and local communities to conserve Lebanon’s natural resources.
